Not sure if I ever posted this here - a comic for @quindriepress's ‘When I was me’ anthology a few years back.

My first few months on HRT, I wrote down little moments that felt significant so I could remember, and this is one of them.

I hope this month you get to carve out space for small joys. Happy pride: I wish us all peace, I hope we all catch a break.

#WIPWednesday • I finished the burgundy roiling and added small black French knots to the abdomen area and am now extending the nerve endings of the diaphragm. This might be the last section of this #VagusNerve #embroidery! #SciArt #MastoArt

The embroidery of the main nerve lines is done in blue chain stitch in perlé cotton. The brain and some of the face is stitched in the same thread in backstitch. Details in the face are stitched in single strand floss. A bright red anatomical heart is stitched in red whipped back stitch. Around it a bright golden yellow halo in a vesica piscis shape is stitched in single strand thread. Three sets of ribs have are stitched in bright green/yellow stem stitch. There are some tiny details in different colours along some of the nerves. Burgundy roiling with sparse tiny black French knots are stitched in the gut area. The nerve endings in the diaphragm area are being lengthened with two strand whipped back stitch. A needle minder in the shape of an hourglass that reads, "This is taking forever," sits near the stitches holding a needle.

How to win #Fedivision: a guide

Not really, but maybe there is a formula for a well-regarded entry to #Fedivision.

- The Fediverse loves nerdy songs. Three years running now, the top voted song has been a bit geeky. This has been pointed out already, and a Prediction was made last week, which turned out to be accurate.

- Production values matter. All of the top ten this year are impeccably produced. The vocals are clean, pitch correction has been applied (either in meatspace or in post), levels are good, it even sounds good in mono or on a little speaker. Moral of the story: practise your production!

- People love songs. Only a couple of the top ten are instrumentals, and that's no shade: they deserve their place. But instrumentals don't pull as many votes. What's the fix? Make a separate contest for instrumentals?

- Toot your horn! The winners have active accounts (mostly) and have pounded the digital pavement drumming up votes. This, too, is practice for being a musician. You're good, make sure everyone else knows it too!

there are more large mushrooms growing from huge rocks, taken from a photo of joshua tree national park. the background is a green tinted starry sky.

i’ve outlined the mushrooms and wizard using a rainbow glitter texture, and used the same texture to give the the wizard a halo/gloriole and slightly glittery beard.

All the lizards being out reminds me of the guy in my freshman geometry class who started every class out by unscrewing a plastic soda bottle with holes punched into it and releasing an anole who would climb up onto his shoulder. he'd then put his head down on his desk and sleep for the whole class while the lizard looked alert and faced the board. he aced every single test and we all decided the lizard took notes for him

Lessons I have learned from recent mending attempts: neither electrical tape nor sugru have the necessary combination of sturdiness + flexibility that is needed for repairing a cheap belt that has become badly cracked. I think I might be able to salvage the buckle at least though, I bet I could find a sewing project to use it in.
